{"id":4780,"date":"2024-10-14T15:31:28","date_gmt":"2024-10-14T12:31:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fbta.net\/?p=4780"},"modified":"2024-10-14T15:31:28","modified_gmt":"2024-10-14T12:31:28","slug":"eun-entry-exit-systemin-kayttoonotto-lykkaantyy-jalleen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fbta.net\/en\/eun-entry-exit-systemin-kayttoonotto-lykkaantyy-jalleen\/","title":{"rendered":"Introduction of EU Entry-Exit System delayed again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The EU has once again delayed the rollout its new electronic border control system after Germany, France and the Netherlands warned the bloc\u2019s central IT infrastructure is not ready.<\/p>\n<p>The long-delayed Entry-Exit System (EES) had been due to launch on 10 November, however EU home affairs commissioner Ylva Johansson on Thursday confirmed the November date is &#8221;no longer on the table&#8221;, according to multiple reports. In a meeting of EU interior ministers, Johansson said the commission does not yet have a new timeline for the start of EES, but that it is now considering &#8221;a phased approach\u2026 not a big bang of all border crossing points at the same time&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>EES is a\u00a0biometric system\u00a0which will use digital photographs and fingerprints for registering travellers from <strong>non-EU countries<\/strong>, including the UK, when they cross the EU\u2019s external border.
