Dear Nordic BTA Member,

It’s been a while since our last Nordic Newsletter; quite a lot has happened - and will be happening - around business travel, meetings and events since. So, why don’t you grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and read what we’ve got in store for you!

Events

Our TMC Showcase in late May was very well appreciated by our buyer members. Inspired by the good feedback, we set our sights to arranging another Nordic Showcase. This time our theme will be Sustainability, and invitation will go out to buyers and suppliers alike. We have an impressive line-up of speakers over two morning sessions 27 and 28 October. Stay tuned for more information in early October.

Our flagship event, the Nordic Business Travel Summit, is now confirmed to be held in Stockholm on 23 – 24 March, 2022. The venue will be Clarion Sign and registration opens later this autumn. #NBTS2022 theme? Transforming the way we meet. You can look forward to a well balanced program with lots of food for thought, as well as unparalleled networking with peers. We hope to see you in Stockholm in March!

And, talking about meetings: more and more buyers are being asked to start looking at their corporation’s meetings and events, so we’d like to organize a Nordic workshop for “buyers only” around this. We need a couple of buyers to take part in a working group to set this up. Preferably a Danish or Norwegian buyer, as we already have a couple of superstars from Sweden and Finland. If you’re interested, please contact lotten.fowler(at)sbta.se. You don’t need to know everything about meetings policies and strategy; an interest and energy will take you far!

Update on GBTA

In case you missed it, we are happy to tell you that the Nordics have a permanent seat on the GBTA Global Board, when DBTA’s Jens Liltorp (Leo Pharma) was elected to represent Europe with a term of 3 years. Another great European, Mark Cuschieri (UBS) was elected Vice President, which makes our continent’s voice even louder.

Being elected for the Board, Mark stepped down from his position as GBTA Europe Chair. This leaves GBTA looking for new talent to lead the European Advisory Group. Do you have what it takes? Read more and apply!

As for GBTA’s main event in Europe, this year’s Conference will take place in Berlin on December 6 – 8. Education sessions have now been announced and you can find full information here. It would be great to have a good Nordic representation – and if you plan on attending, please hurry: the best early bird rate is valid until 6 October.
Pandemic Survey #4

Surveys

Our 4th Travel Post-Covid survey did not collect quite as many replies as we had wished for. However, nearly 80 buyer members across our region shared their views on returning to travel. Survey results can be found here.

DBTA 50

It’s lovely to end this Nordic newsletter with our warmest congratulations to our dear sister association DBTA, who celebrated their 50th anniversary at the end of September. The first big face-to-face event in a long time, the special day started with a jubilee seminar to bring members up-to-date with industry experts. 007 may have no time to die, but DBTA declared “Now time to fly”, and the birthday party in the evening definitely got people smiling. Happy Birthday, DBTA – and here’s to the next 50!

That’s all, folks! Happy October to one and all,
Anne Mette, Lotten, Sari and Marianne
