GBTA warns against new ESTA social media rules

10.2.2026 by Sari Viljamaa

The Global Business Travel Association has called upon the US government to scrap a plan to require inbound US travellers to submit five years of social media identifiers through the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA), according to a letter the association released on Friday (6 February).

Without an ETA travel permit for UK flights from February 25th

3.2.2026 by Sari Viljamaa

The electronic ETA travel permit is a requirement for boarding flights or, for example, Eurostar trains when travelling to the UK, from 25 February 2026. BTN Europe: ”Another change, coming into force from 25 February, will prevent eligible visitors without an ETA from boarding their transport to the UK”.

Passengers transiting through UK airports who go through UK border control will need an ETA, unless they are transiting via Heathrow or Manchester airports and do not go through UK border control. If the transit also requires changing airports, an ETA will be needed.

The price of the ETA travel permit is GBP 16 and it is planned to be raised to GBP 20 during the current year.

The BTN Europe article can be read. here.
