Finavia 14.6.2018
– We have updated the traffic arrangements for the front of Terminal 1. in mid-May, when we moved the bus stops to a new location. The change affected a few local bus routes as well as long-distance buses. By the end of the month The car park had to make way for the T2 terminal in the multi-storey car park., so that we could get the new taxiway worksite started, says Finavia's director Jukka Isomäki.
Four lanes for taxis and dedicated areas for on-demand transport
Helsinki-Vantaa is Finland's most significant hub for taxi services. Isomäki says that Helsinki-Vantaa has prepared well for the taxi law amendment coming into effect on 1 July and the subsequent reorganisations.
Three lanes in front of Terminals T1 and T2 have been reserved for taxis with an agreement with Finavia to provide taxi services to air passengers. These taxis meet Finavia's criteria for, among other things, vehicles and drivers' language skills, explains Isomäki.
Agreements have also been made with contracted companies regarding maximum pricing, for example, for journeys to Helsinki city centre, and the prices will be clearly displayed to customers at the airport.
With the new legislation, all taxi drivers will have the opportunity to drive onto the tarmac. The fourth lane located in front of terminals T1 and T2 will therefore be reserved for other available taxis, with whom the customer negotiates the ride and price themselves. In addition, an area will be set aside at the airport for pre-booked rides.
The waiting area for charter buses and the bus stops at Terminal 2 will remain in their former locations.
Parking capacity for thousands of vehicles and express parking in the multi-storey car park
Finavia has over 13,000 parking spaces at Helsinki Airport. The vast majority of these are located in car parks in the immediate vicinity of the terminals. Car Park P5 is the largest in Finland.
– Signage is of great importance so that customers can easily find where they should park. For everyone You can also buy a spot in the car parks in advance except for the rapid parking. Parking is cheaper the earlier you book and buy the spot, Isomäki says.
From summer 2018, Finavia's weekly parking prices without advance booking are €44.
