The Comfort Hotel chain will arrive in Finland in 2023 when Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport opens. The objectives are clear and tough: the chain intends to grow in the Nordic countries and Strongly in Finland.
In mid-September, Petter A Stordalen, owner of the Nordic Choice Hotels chain, and LAK Real Estate announced the largest hotel project ever in Finland: a two-hotel complex with 718 rooms at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. One of these hotels will be part of the Comfort Hotel chain. It will bring a brand new hotel chain to the Finnish market, offering a unique Selected Service concept.
- This is exciting news. It's not very often that we get to introduce a new hotel chain to the country, as we have now with the arrival of the Comfort Hotel chain at Helsinki Airport. This will benefit both the airport, with a more diversified hotel offer, and the passengers, who will have more spending money when checking out of the hotel," says Katalin Paldeak, Chief Operating Officer of Nordic Choice Hotels.
The Comfort Hotel chain currently has 34 hotels in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and is growing strongly, especially in airports. The 503-room Comfort Hotel Arlanda Airport at Stockholm Arlanda Airport will open in late January, followed by the 604-room Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen in autumn 2020.

Airport hotels have traditionally been seen as boring and expensive, but we are proving that this doesn't have to be the case. We make travelling more affordable and at the same time offer the best possible start to your trip. The new hotel at Helsinki Airport is located in the terminal building, so it's a very short walk to the gate," says Anna Spjuth, Senior Vice President, Nordic Region, Hotel Chain.
However, the opening of the hotel at Helsinki Airport is just the beginning.
- The Comfort Hotel chain has very ambitious goals. The hotel concept appeals to customers, offering affordable accommodation in city centres and airports. The new hotel is our first in Finland, but it will not be our last. Cities of particular interest in Finland are Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and Oulu," says Katalin Paldeak.
In addition to the Comfort Hotel Helsinki Airport, the hotel complex will include a full-service Clarion Hotel. The hotel complex will have a total of 718 rooms, restaurants, meeting rooms, a gym and bars. Construction will start in 2020 and the hotel is scheduled for completion in 2023, with a budget of EUR 120 million.
Nordic Choice Hotels already owns the Clarion Hotel Helsinki Airport and GLO Hotel Airport hotels in the Helsinki-Vantaa airport area. When the new hotel complex is completed, the company will have four hotels with a total of 1,045 rooms in the airport area.
