Press release 9.6.2019
The World Travel Awards, one of the most prestigious accolades in the travel industry, has named Norwegian as Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline in 2019. The Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline 2019 award was presented to Norwegian late yesterday evening at the World Travel Awards ceremony in Madeira.
– We are extremely proud to have been voted Europe’s best low-cost airline for the fifth consecutive time. This once again clearly reflects the dedication and commitment of our 11,000 employees. The recognition shows that travellers worldwide value our affordable fares, friendly service and new, environmentally friendly aircraft. We want to thank both our customers and other industry players who have once again cast their vote for Norwegian, said Norwegian’s CEO. Bjørn Kjos.
– Norwegian has demonstrated its ability to consistently provide excellent service by winning the Europe’s Leading Low-Cost Airline recognition for the fifth consecutive year. Norwegian's years of growth in both short-haul and long-haul flights represent the World Travel Awards' mission to break the boundaries of travel excellence, said the World Travel Awards' President and Founder Graham E. Cooke.
Earlier this year, Norwegian became the first low-cost airline to offer free in-flight Wi-Fi on long-haul routes. Passengers have the opportunity to stay connected with free or an enhanced and faster Wi-Fi service on Norwegian's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Over half of Norwegian's 787-9 Dreamliner fleet will feature in-flight connectivity by 2020.
Norwegian has launched many routes this year, including flights between London and Rio de Janeiro, and flights between Dublin and Hamilton/Toronto. The company has also launched flights this year between London and San Francisco, London and Miami, Rome and Boston, and Madrid and Boston. In Finland, new route openings this year have included flights between Helsinki-Vantaa and Pisa (Italy), and Helsinki-Vantaa and Tivat (Montenegro).
