The Nordic business travel associations DBTA, FBTA, NBTA and SBTA annually award an accomplished Travel Manager. This year, recognition was to be given to an individual who has promoted sustainable development in travel and meeting management. All members of the four associations were able to submit nominations for the award recipient with their justifications. The winner was chosen by a jury, which included representatives from the buyer membership of each association. To FBTA's great delight, the Nordic Travel Manager 2020 award went to Tuija Hyvärinen, TietoEVRY Corporation.
The grounds for the award included, among others,.
- Very concrete actions to drive sustainability in travel
- Tangible, measurable results, such as a significant reduction in the use of private cars and driven kilometres among employees.
- Sustainability initiatives at Tieto were started a long time ago and have been expanding over many years.
- Many different initiatives, which target different aspects of travelling more eco-friendly
- Tuija is a forerunner who sets a good example for other Buyer members.
