ETIAS

The European travel authorisation ETIAS will cost EUR 20

4.8.2025 by Sari Viljamaa

EU: The Commission has announced a new fee for non-EU travellers who do not need a visa to enter 30 European countries. The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) fee will be EUR 20 instead of the previous EUR 7. This increase aims to cover the operational costs of ETIAS, taking into account all its functionalities and inflation rates, and align the EU fee to the ones of other countries that have similar travel authorisation programmes.

The ETIAS system will start operations at the end of 2026.

EU electronic travel authorisation ETIAS delayed again

28.9.2023 by Sari Viljamaa

Business Travel News Europe:

The European Union is set to further delay the implementation of its ETIAS travel system for non-EU visitors into 2025, according to reports

ETIAS, also known as the European Travel Information and Authorisation System, has already suffered a series of delays due to technical problems and in February it was further postponed to 2024. Now specialist website SchengenVisaInfo.com is reporting that the launch of ETIAS has been pushed back to May 2025 due to continued delays with the introduction of the related Entry-Exit System (EES), which needs to be operational before ETIAS can be implemented.

Meanwhile, the UK is ploughing ahead with its own version of ETIAS, which is known as the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and will start being rolled out from October 2023 when it will initially apply to visitors from Qatar.

EU lykkää ETIAS-matkustusluvan käyttöönottoa

1.3.2023 by Sari Viljamaa

EU:n sähköisen matkustusluvan ETIASin käyttöönotto viivästyy, raportoi Business Travel News Europe.

Rajavartiolaitos: ”Jatkossa viisumivapaista maista saapuvilta edellytetään ennakkoluvan hankkimista. Tätä järjestelmää kutsutaan nimellä ETIAS eli Euroopan matkustustieto- ja -lupajärjestelmä. ETIAS on Yhdysvalloissa käytössä olevan ESTAn kaltainen ennakkorekisteröitymisjärjestelmä.
