Uusi sopimus EU:n ja USA:n välisestä henkilötietojen käsittelystä syntymässä

EU-tuomioistuimen 2020 antama ratkaisu (Schrems II) kumosi EU:n ja Yhdysvaltojen välisen Privacy Shield -järjestelyn, jolla säädeltiin henkilötietojen käsittelyä. Euroopan tietosuojaneuvosto edellytti, että EU:n ja Yhdysvaltojen tulee luoda tiedonsiirtoja varten tehokkaat ja aukottomat raamit, joilla henkilötiedoille taataan Yhdysvalloissa EU:n tietosuojaa olennaisesti vastaava taso.

Valkoisen talon 25.3. antaman tiedotteen mukaan EU-komissio ja USA ovat päässeet yhteisymmärrykseen uudesta transatlanttisesta tietosuojakehyksestä.
